WHAT WE DO

About Us

Established in Ghana, Kolaanore is a team of weavers in Bolga, Upper East Region of Ghana

Kolaanore, a cooperative rooted in Frafra culture, unites skilled artisans to create high-quality baskets using traditional methods. Meaning "River Bank" in the Gurune dialect, it symbolizes a nurturing space for craftsmen and customers. Frafra basketry, inspired by savannah birds, is a centuries-old tradition in Ghana's Upper East Region. Made from Guinea grass straws through a meticulous handcrafting process, these vibrant, durable baskets serve various purposes, including shopping, decoration, and storage.

Our team draws inspiration from the vibrant landscapes and age-old weaving techniques passed down through generations, creating timeless pieces that blend tradition with modern design.

At Kolaanore, we believe in empowering local artisans and sustaining the craftsmanship that defines our heritage. Our mission is to share the unique story of Bolga’s weaving culture with the world, while supporting the local community by providing sustainable livelihoods and preserving these remarkable skills for future generations.

WHERE HERITAGE MEETS HEART.
